Three donkeys in a Wausau garage | WAOW North Central Wisconsin News
Jersey and Ellie May were in Kentucky, pregnant, and up for auction. Their owner had to get rid of them. That meant they could be heading to slaughter.“I wasn’t expecting them to be in as bad of condition as they were,” Dehnel explained. “I thought, when does a person make the decision to do something when an animal is starving.”
The Dehnel family decided to bring them home to Wausau. Just a little while later, Milton Burro was born.
“He had a lot of odds stacked up against him,” Dehnel said. “He’s a fighter.”

“That was the start, and now I have 23,” Dehnel said as she laughed.
